Share memories of Saturday nights in Ashland

Published: Thursday, June 30, 2011 3:07 AM CDT

ASHLAND – The farmers came to Ashland on Saturday nights. The businesses stayed open and whole families arrived ready to shop, people watch, gossip and go to the movies.

Were you one of those people? Do you have nostalgic memories and stories that you want to share?

Perhaps you have artifacts like the flyer that came in the mail from The Neu Theater each month that advertised the movies that were going to be shown.

Or maybe you have photos such as a picture of the popcorn wagon that stood near the corner of 14th and Silver.

Then again maybe you are the person who knows when this tradition started or when it stopped and the businesses no longer stayed open on Saturday night.

The Ashland Historical Society (a.k.a. the Saline Ford Historical Preservation Society) invites the public to attend their meeting being held

on Thursday, July 7 at 7 p.m. at Willow Point Gallery in downtown Ashland to share your experiences on Saturday nights in Ashland.

If you have stories to share and are unable to attend the meeting contact the organization at webmaster@AshlandHistoricalSociety.org.
