Colorado – Nevada Border –On April 28, Gilbert left San Jose, running south to Long Beach. On May 11, she turned east on Route 6. Today after 1351 miles (1010 miles on Route 6) through rain strorms, baking heat, black flies, and blisters, Aprylle Gilbert reached the Colorado border. She has 2,642 miles ahead of her with the Rockies looming on the horizon. During the Colorado portion of the run, she will reach the task is the first of its kind highest point on Route 6 – Loveland Pass (elevation: 11,991). Although Joe Hurley proceeded her by walking the Route, Gilbert is the first person known to take on the task of running the Route 6 from coast to coast.
