Trip to Cape Cod with Rachel V. Carey, Independent Filmmaker—Member and husband Jeff.

Since there are 14 Route 6 states we estimate that it will take around three years to complete the interviews and filming. Rachel plans on interviewing individuals who have first hand experiences and stories about the 6 between 1935 and 1965. Feel free to share any ideas you may have.

During the months of May and June 2010 Rachel will be doing interviews and filming in the States of Connecticut, New York and Pennsylvania.

It gives me a good feeling knowing that more and more young people are taking a serious interest
in the Grand Old Highway. The Documentary Movie is part of our economic development and
cultural preservation program. Thanks for your financial support!

The U.S. Route 6 Tour Association© welcomes participation from our members, all entities along U.S. Route 6 and, of course, all high school students around the United States.  Or, maybe you've heard about our organization, feel strongly about the "6" and want to help.

Check out these opportunities to get involved and make a difference.

History of Route 6 -- Got an interesting story?  Let us know.

One of our many projects is to establish HISTORIC US 6 ROUTE signage from coast-to-coast. This is part of our economic development program to attract vacation travelers to drive the Grand Old Highway. The signs will be located along the original alignment (where through travel is possible) that existed prior to 1956. It was in 1956 that the Eisenhower administration started the construction of the Interstate Highway System.

We are now working on signage between Bishop and Long Beach, California. This portion of  U.S. 6 was removed from maps in 1964. The signs now being installed will help all the communities located along the 3,652 miles by preserving the coast-to-coast integrity of the original alignment.

Looking into the future, it would be great to have cross-country events involving classic and vintage cars, motorcycles, RVs, bicycles, and even walking the "6" like Joe Hurley did back in 2004. Route 6 Walk I Coast-To-Coast
